Show 41: Interviewing Amaya – On The Road Since 2006

Posted October 10th, 2011

Amaya on the roadIn this latest edition of the TravellingTwo podcast, we interview Amaya Williams. She’s been cycling the world with her husband Eric since 2006.

We also talk a little bit about our next big adventure – and it’s not directly related to bike touring, but don’t worry… we’re still planning plenty more touring fun in the future.

In addition to the podcast, you’ll find a video at the bottom of this post. It combines photos of Eric & Amaya’s journey, with the interview. Let us know if you like this, and we’ll try to do this with more future podcasts.

Show 40: Answering Questions About Long-Distance Bicycle Touring

Posted July 10th, 2011

Friedel & Andrew On Our World Bicycle TourIt’s the 40th edition of the Travelling Two Bike Touring Podcast!

We’re not sure where the time has gone, but we’ve definitely enjoyed making this podcast over the years. Thanks for listening in.

This is a bit of special edition because two of our listeners, Dave & Bethany, are interviewing us. They’re heading out on a big bicycle tour and had a lot of questions about route planning, visas and other aspects of planning a long international trip. We had a chance to chat over Skype, and this interview is the result.

At the end of the show, we also talk a bit about our summer plans to tour England. Since recording the show, we’ve changed our plans because the ferry prices were too expensive. Maybe next year!

Show 39: Lightweight Bike Touring

Posted January 2nd, 2011

Stijn De ClerkWe’re trying to lighten our bags, so we called in the help of a friend.

Stijn travels all over the world on trips as long as 6 months and he rarely carries panniers that weigh more than 8-10kg.

That’s light compared to the hefty 15kg or more of luggage that we’ve traditionally lugged around on our bikes.

In this podcast, Stijn tells us about his travels, tips for packing and how he continually evaluates his gear to see where he can shave off a few more grams.

We hope you’ll find it as interesting as we did. If you’ve managed to lighten your bags as well, leave a comment and tell us more about how you did it!

Show 38: Sonya & Aaldrik, On The Road Since 2006

Posted August 13th, 2010

kirgizie juni 2007_2Sonya & Aaldrik are an Australian-Dutch couple who set off to tour the world in 2006.

Some 50,000km later, they’re still on the road and going strong. We caught up with them during their brief stay in Holland, in July 2010. In a cafe in The Hague, they told us about their journey, and shared some of the tips and experiences they’ve had along the way.

You can also check out their website, Tour.tk with journals, tips and practical information from the countries they have visited.

In this podcast, we also talk briefly about our upcoming tour to Denmark – two weeks of cycling up to the northernmost tip of Denmark, and back down to the German border.
